You need an IRC client (mIRC, XChat, Pirch, etc) to connect and chat on IRC.
If you use [k][x][ed]Ubuntu, you can install Xchat. It connects to Freenode by default already.
Just issue /Join #CUARC to join the channel once on Freenode.
